      Position Description:

      Purpose: The OLMSA works directly with the Course Managers and User Administrator to keep our online courses cutting-edge and student friendly.

       

      Job Description: Currently, SEI has online courses in Photovoltaics (PV), Sustainable Building, and Renewable Energy for the Developing World. SEI is looking to add additional online courses and update our existing courses. Some weekend and evening work may be required.

       

      The objectives of the position are:

      ·         Main contact for Blackboard, SEI’s current online Learning Management System

      ·         Provide primary support to Course Managers from all departments within SEI

      ·         Track online market trends and implement new methods of teaching delivery using the latest technology.

      ·         Ensure the success of SEI’s online programs by working collaboratively with all
      Teams involved in online programming.

       

      Tasks include but are not limited to the following:

      Online Program Development and Implementation

      ·         Coordinate efforts of modifications and improvements to SEI’s online courses.

      ·         Oversee the development of new online courses and assist with the implementation of new courses. (The position will not work with specific content development.)

      ·         Stay abreast of the online learning market, latest online delivery and teaching methods, including audio, video, webinars, chat rooms, and animated graphics.

      ·         Oversee multimedia of our online courses and support each Team with implementation of new methods into existing and new courses.

      ·         Maintain consistency across all online courses regarding administrative and programmatic policies, procedures, student experience, structure, and format. Update in-house course training course for all online instructors.

      ·         Collaborate with Marketing Team to create a style guide for all online courses.

      ·         Provide Blackboard technical support to Course Managers and User Administrators.

      ·         Train or organize Blackboard trainings for staff on an as-needed basis.

      ·         Develop a feedback loop and regularly scheduled communication inclusive of Course Managers, Program Staff, and Team Leaders regarding proposed maintenance, curriculum changes, upgrades, and administrative procedures.

       

      Blackboard Learning System Management

      ·         Analyze and recommend software upgrades based on organizational needs and new offerings from Blackboard and other companies.

      ·         Manage, copy, archive, and remove courses.

      ·         Install, enable/disable, and manage Blackboard Building Blocks.

      ·         Schedule and perform system maintenance

      ·         Manage relationship with Presidium, which provides 24/7 phone support students and Course Managers.

      ·         Access and interpret log file information and submit service tickets

      ·         Establish and maintain security codes and protocol for Instructors and course builders to ensure they have proper access to Presidium and Blackboard.

      ·         Establish emergency management plan for LMS and online management staff.

      ·         Research new learning management systems to ensure that we are using the LMS that most meets our needs.

       

      Experience and Skills Required:

      Qualifications:

      ·         Prior experience with online Learning Management System(s)

      ·         Knowledge and experience in the e-learning industry preferred.

      ·         Basic knowledge of HTML.

      ·         Experience with multimedia, such as animations, video, and webinars.

      ·         Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

      ·         Strength in both written and verbal communications.

      ·         Previous managerial experience.

      ·         Able to work under tight deadlines and/or emergencies.

      ·         Ability to engage in self-directed work.

      ·         A team player with the ability to adapt to new situations.
