Sabre Systems, Inc. is currently recruiting for a Blackboard System Administrator to work in Annapolis, MD.

Employee will be working with team to create / maintain / and enhance Oracle databases manually and/or with tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager.  Also, the employee will using with Oracle and Blackboard to support and resolve bugs and troubleshoot the most critical and complex issues.  The employee will be monitoring Blackboard performance, resolve end-user complaints and issues, design and develop SQL / UNIX scripts, administer technical strategies and configurations in order to proactive prevent poor Blackboard system performance. Will provide Blackboard network and systems administration support; monitor Blackboard performance, network communication, and servers; manage Blackboard user accounts, groups, and systems passwords, privileges; perform preventive Blackboard hardware and software maintenance; and perform Blackboard performance tuning, optimization, backend troubleshooting, integration design, development, and maintenance. 

The consultant must be willing to work along site a senior Blackboard Technical Training Specialist as well as a team of Oracle PL/SQL developers, Oracle data warehousing specialists, web application experts, and senior testing analysts.  Documentation and a commitment to adhering to customer defined processes, standards, Quality Assurance techniques, and development standards are also important.   

Job Requirement

·        B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other technical degree.

·        Expertise with the Blackboard applications, both functional and technical aspects including: Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Learning System, and Blackboard ProSites (Both Enterprise and Basic environments); Blackboard Connect; and Blackboard Transact

·        Expertise with E-learning products, their application and integration with networks, databases, UNIX operating systems, and web applications. 

·        Able to integrate the Blackboard system with other key campus technologies improves the flow of information and helps manage customer costs as the e-Learning deployment and user community grows / evolves.

·        Skilled in SQL, HTML, Java, XML, UNIX, and shell scripting, including: proficient in Blackboard administration; management and setup of GUI; installing Blackboard Learn in a load balancing environment; and authentication and security

·        Knowledge of maintenance of the Blackboard environment; backup and restoration of the Blackboard environment; and Blackboard troubleshooting

·        Experience with Database Administration services

·        Experience with server configurations, automated data processing and proficient in batch processing

·        Proficient in designing and developing snap shot controllers and experience in writing UNIX shell scripts.

·        Experienced in maintaining and troubleshooting Blackboard backend / front-end software and computer application equipment and resources on all application servers and database servers.

·        Must have the ability to safeguard against threats to physical and data security, natural disasters and network outages. 

·        Capable of addressing issues that arise with customer’s Blackboard implementation.

·        Attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple projects will be required

·        The ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision is important

·        Excellent consulting and client management skills, including program management organization, project planning, and managing expectations. 

·        Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with associated deadlines and the ability to establish goals and set clear expectations, prioritize activities, and follow through with timely execution. 

·        Demonstrated strong decision-making skills, with the ability to consider a broad range of internal/external factors when problem solving and rendering decisions.

·        Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, build relationships with internal and external customers.
