Drexel eLearning, Inc. (www.drexel.com) is the for-profit subsidiary of Drexel University focused on the marketing of innovative, Internet-based, education degree and certificate programs for adult students.
Job Responsibilities
Be the senior member of a small team tasked with working with faculty to develop and design of rapid online learning materials/courses.
The Senior Instructional Designer will:
• Work with the Instructional design team to ensure the timeliness and quality of content; to be a teacher and mentor to less experienced instructional designers
• Work with the Instructional design team to develop and help deliver advanced, highly interactive-highly engaging, and “Web 2.0” technology enhanced online courses and/or learning modules
• Work with clients and DeL senior management to define content and course development schedules for on-going educational programs.
• Work and support the initiatives of other DeL departments, including Marketing and Business Development
• Promote “best practices” with external organizations.
• Ensure quality course design and delivery in accordance with Drexel eLearning development and teaching standards, and sound pedagogy.
• Train faculty on teaching and managing online courses
• Manage the development of online courses to meet delivery deadlines
• Monitor the performance of running courses
• Work in conjunction with faculty on the improvement of existing courses
Other responsibilities include:
• Document instructional design processes and procedures.
• Development of department’s online/asynchronous faculty development program
Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum 5-7 years work experience in instructional design, preferably at a college/university and/or a rapid e-learning environment.
• Successful experience developing and coordinating a faculty instructional development program
• Knowledge of asynchronous learning and best practices in online teaching and online course development
• Outstanding computer skills – proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,
• Experience with web editing (html, xml), Internet based technologies, and portable multimedia devices (PDAs, mp3 players).
• Knowledge of Blackboard LMS, Adobe Photoshop, Articulate, and digital video editing is preferred; knowledge of Flash is a plus,
• Must be able to perform under tight deadlines
• B.S. or B.A. required, M.S. or M.A preferred.
