In Dr. Andreas Lixl’s course for Intermediate German, Al Briscoe, Jr with consultation from Blackboard administrator, Rob Owens, developed a series of vocabulary games as an engaging and effective learning tool.   Each game introduces 80-100 new vocabulary words by asking students to match the word or phrase with the associated picture or English translation.  Each game offers immediate feedback to the student on where their trouble-spots are and how they can master the material.  Each game is designed to take 20-45 minutes to complete. 

These educational games were recognized as an exemplary practice as part of the 2009 Blackboard Exemplary Course Program.
