      Title:
      BbWorld'09 Networking and Volunteer Events?
      Content:

Do you have ideas for Community Member only activities we should offer at BbWorld'09 and Developers Conference (July 2009) in Washington, DC?  The Nation's Capital is full of opportunities for all ages and interests.  Are there activities that you would like to see, for example:

      • Day trips for families and spouses to nearby attractions (e.g., Gettysburg, Monticello, National Zoo, Smithsonian, Mount Vernon, winery tours)
      • Volunteer opportunities to support local schools and libraries
      • Walking, cycling, Segway or DC Duck tours of Washington, DC
      • Hands-on classes for chocolate-making or cooking
      • Other ideas?

If you think this is a good idea be sure to vote "thumbs up" for this.  If you have other ideas please add them to this thread.

    • Day trips and half day trips are always welcome. Not necessarily the hinterlands. Stay close to central DC (and the conference venue itself..ie, the chocolate-making sounds like a winner). A mechanism to sign-up and have some flexibility makes certain all are pleased. I suppose a 'big' trip where a cadre of Bb'ers could give you a bargaining chip with some vendors would get folks to sign up for the Monticello or Gettysburg trips.

    • What do folks think about a volunteer activity associated with BbWorld?  I'm thinking of something like partnering with a local or DC-based organization to build a school playground or do a school renovation (painting, organizing the library).  Is anyone interested in participating in something along these lines?  Got any ideas on what we might want to do?

    • Hi everyone - We've got a volunteer event for BbWorld developed in partnership with DC Cares, a local philanthropy organization.  Learn more at http://www.blackboard.com/BbWorld/2009/Program-Overview/Volunteer-Event.aspx
