End of Semester Checklist for your Online Course
      Description:

Here is an end of a semester checklist for your online course.

      Gradebook

      • Complete all grading
      • Set-up/or verify all calculated columns are working correctly
      • Set-up/or verify letter grade column is working correctly
      • Scan columns in the grade book and look for anything that is out of place.
      Students who have blank scores
Particular assignment missing a lot of scores
      • Turn in Grades

      Reflection

      • What worked well in the course?
      • What did not work as planned?
      • What technical difficulties did I or my students have?
      • What areas of the course would I like to improve?
      • What content or activities would I like to add?

Schedule time to work on the course to make improvements.  Take advantage of instructional designers, e-learning support specialists, media production and graphic artists to improve your course.  If you found some technical difficulties that your students had, visit with your Blackboard support staff on campus and get their help in resolving what those issues are.

      • Back up course
      • Save backup to your computer?

      :)

    • Hey Kevin,

I like your checklist.  It made me think that I should have a more standard set of communication for faculty.

We usually find ourselves reminding faculty of key functions after getting several email on certain topics.

Our reminders were more "task" oriented, and not evaluative on the course, which I think is important.

      We mention the following:

      1. Download/Print Gradebook [Recommended]
This will provide you with an electronic copy of all of the grades that were entered into Bb over the semester in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet format. This is also the best way of printing your gradebook.

Instructions: From the control panel, click "Grade Center", roll over the "Manage" menu, and click the "Download" link. Leaving the default choices, click "Submit" and save the resulting file to a SECURE location.  Here is a tip sheet on how to download your gradebook from Bb: http://tinyurl.com/5of577

      2. Export Course [Optional]
This process will provide you with a copy of all of the content (as a .zip file) in your course that you can save to your local computer or the network. Note: This does not include individual student-based records such as grades, digital dropbox files, and so on.

Instructions:  From the control panel, click "Export Course", click the areas you would like to export and then click "Submit". Then save the resulting file to your computer or the campus network for long term storage.
